I’m normally not a fan of change but when it comes to anything home decor related I’m all in. There’s been a few things I’ve been meaning to get to for the longest time and now that the sister-in-laws baby showers are over with I can focus on some things around the house. And maybe all those nesting habits of hers have worn off on me now as I’ve got the organizing, cleaning, and crafting bug.
So, without further ado…remember this straw geometric structure I made for a Pinterest Challenge inspired by Bower Power’s blog?
Well although I love the teal colour I just wasn’t digging it in our living space. I love colour but it needs to be toned down with a neutral so of course my neutral is none other than metallic gold. I constructed myself a make shift spray booth on our balcony made of a dry cleaners plastic bag and a garbage bag. It was the perfect day as it wasn’t sunny nor windy so I was able to spray multiple thin coats for an even finish.
I love the way it turned out. One day I would love to create a million more of these things all sprayed gold and hang them in a nursery as a mobile in hopes of my child becoming an architect.
Another area I fixed up is our “billy bookcase” corner. The husband has been hiding his massive rolley bag with his second monitor in this corner for way too long now so it was high time to find a spot in the closet for that which meant that I purged and reorganized the closet. This nesting business is very influential I tell ya.
Then, if you remember, we inherited a beautiful wooden rocking chair from the husbands family. It’s a beautiful piece but it was way too big for our space and cluttered the area so we found a new home for it at my in-laws place. I’ve dubbed it the “feeding” chair when my sister-in-law visits her parents with the babay. Sorry, the only picture I could find of it is one from Christmas. And to think it’s only four months away…scary.
So here’s how the space looks now with the chair gone.
And because I just can’t seem to get rid of anything without replacing it with something else this pouf came home with me when I made a trip down to the Excited States of America with my mother and sister. We were only supposed to go to Target and Trader Joe’s but we ended up at Kohl’s and I came home with this black and cream graphic pouf. Isn’t she beautiful?! AND it was half price so I only paid $35! Should’ve picked myself up two of them.
I’ve been looking at comparable ones at West Elm but they are out of my price range and I considered making one because they make it look easy peasy on Pinterest but do I honestly have the time and patience right now to try that? And by the time I buy all the supplies and consider all the time it would take me, it’s definitely not worth it.
Now I just gotta get the husband to go through his stuff so that we can get that bottom shelf all cleaned up.
Ah, I tell ya…it feels so good to be back here.
