All Things Pretty for My Sister :)

My dear sister Katherine (she’s sister #2 of 3) has been living with the same bedroom wall colour for the last 3 years…Benjamin Moore’s Natural Linen. It wasn’t her choice but she inherited it from me when I moved downstairs into our brother’s old bedroom. Although Benjamin Moore’s CC-90 Natural Linen is a very lovely neutral, it’s not the most exciting colour for a 23 year old girl, er woman. My parents have it throughout their entire home and although it looks fantastic with everything from brown to gray I think my sister deserves a space she can truly call her own.

Benjamin Moore’s Natural Linen

I originally had Benjamin Moore’s Potpourri Green on the wall (with lavender accents) but when I got tired of that I painted over with Natural Linen as I was looking for something a little easier on the eyes. It also worked really well with my turquoise and brown theme. That was short lived. But the poor girl has been living with dark brown curtains that I accidentally shrunk in the dryer that are now looking slightly lopsided and although she hasn’t really talked about having her bedroom re-done, I as the oldest sister, am going to take some initiative and help her out. She’s got great fashion sense but when it comes to home decor she could really use some assistance. That’s what sisters are for, right?

When I was asked her what sort of colour scheme she would like in her bedroom she told me she’s torn between pastels and bold colours. Girlfriend, don’t be torn, why not just mix the two?! I put together a moodboard for her that I haven’t even shown her yet until now to help her visual her new space. Surprise! I hope you like it Katherine…

The scarf and the bouquet of flowers are my inspiration. I love me a soft pink accented with mint or turquoise and fuschia. I love the very feminine white pin-tuck bedding from West Elm as it reminds me of a wedding dress…or a cupcake.  As my sister loves all things shiny, a gold chandelier, mirror, and pouf are a must in this space as they are like the jewels of a room. And it’s time to get rid of the black swivel desk chair and replace it with a thrift store find that can be sprayed and reupholstered. And wouldn’t some silver and gold polka dot curtains look amazing against the soft, barely there, pink walls?!

I haven’t had a chance to check out these colours yet in her space but I’m really liking Benjamin Moore’s 2094-70/Mellow Pink…

It might be difficult to see on your screen but Proposal is slightly darker and grayer then the Mellow Pink but still keeping it soft and pretty.

I’ll let you know what my sister thinks when I hear from her.

Who else is thinking of painting their bedroom? What colour? Are you into the pastels or do you prefer neutrals?
