It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

What’s not to love about this time of year?! The decorations, the baking, the drinks, the food, the family, the lights, the tree, the list goes on!

We’ve got this nook between the dining area and the kitchen that gets neglected so I thought this would be the perfect space to add some Christmas cheer. Right now it’s got a few photos from different trips, our wedding invitation, our cake topper, and those mini chairs are name card holders from Pottery Barn to feed my chair addiction.

I saw this idea on Pinterest a few months ago and I thought it would be the perfect craft to put in my nook. I love the antlers, the glitter, and the chevron print behind it.

I visited the dollar store and purchased 3 – 6″x8″ canvases. I free handed the reindeer silhouette onto the canvas and although it didn’t come out perfect, it came out alright. And you can’t exactly erase pencil from canvas so it had to do!

This glitter is also from the dollar store. I ended up combining four different coloured sparkles together to create some variation.

Another tool I found very helpful was the precision tip glue pen made by Elmer’s. I otherwise don’t know how I would’ve gotten the edges to come out as precise as they did.

I let the reindeer dry for about 8 hours on a flat surface, shook off the glitter, and here’s how it turned out…

And here he is amongst the chevron canvases that I also created just using tape and some  metallic silver paint.

Because we don’t have a fireplace mantle I thought that this area would be the perfect little place to hang our stockings. So, for a grand total of about $5 our nook has some Christmas cheer.

Has Pinterest inspired you to do any craft projects this Christmas season? I’ve got another one to show you this week…
