I’ve definitely been slacking in the bedroom…….get your head out of the gutter people!!!!! I’ve been slacking when it comes to the decor…geez! Of course I would love to redecorate our bedroom with ideas I’ve seen on Pinterest but in our 1970′s rental apartment it just hasn’t been a priority for me lately. Our guests aren’t hanging out in our bedroom and the seven hours I spend in there are with my eyes shut.
My main focus right now is our window and curtain situation. I work long days and I’m up at 5:00am Monday through Friday so I need to keep the bedroom dark which is especially difficult since we have a motion activated light just outside our window. I was just going to live with the situation and throw the pillow over my eyes every time the light goes off but since we plan on being here for another few years I may as well get comfortable and get a good nights rest.
However, let me show you what I have to work with…
…these security bars (which prevents me from installing a black out roller shade), these flimzy curtains that can’t come down, an outdated valance, and an off-centered window…and for a woman that likes symmetry, this is very difficult to deal with!
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find any curtains that work with my existing bedding so maybe, just maybe, it’s time I splurge on a new set?! Besides, our bedding right now is a $30 duvet cover from JYSK that I purchased when we moved in not because I was in love with it but because we just needed something. (You’ll notice that I’m good at justifying new purchases, it’s a family trait… )

So this is what I have and although I really like the teal and chartreuse combination, it’s just not doing anything for me.
I was perusing Pinterest and came across these bedrooms that I really like…
I love the wall colour in both rooms especially paired with the preppy striped bedding and the citron accents.
But another other part of me is loving this room as well…
It’s totally out of my comfort zone and pink has never been one of my favourite colours but I love what they’ve done here. I work in a paint store, it’s only one wall, and I don’t have to live with it forever, so why not paint the wall pink, right?….Oh the stresses in life that keep me awake at night.
If you’re McLovin’ the pink, check out Benjamin Moore’s 2083-40/Begonia or 2078-40/Paradise Pink.
I have no idea yet what look I’m going to go for but stay tuned.
And back to my curtain situation, I popped in to West Elm today and found these…
Although they aren’t black out, they are opaque and will definitely help darken the room and I like that they have a pattern yet they’re still neutral.
I’m a woman on a mission so stay tuned to see what I do
